The impressive glass office block in the Northern Quarter - Manchester has been nicknamed the Shard of the north by a local news agency as it is a modern office block with glass façade towering from the lower floors listed building with inspiring office spaces, lounges and collaborative spaces.
AM Fire Systems remit was to design a BS EN 12845 complaint High Rise sprinkler system with 2 LPC approved multi stage fire pumps drawing water from a concrete water storage tank with butyl liner and LPC approved antivortex etc. The system was zoned with 2 sprinkler control valves for the high and low zone and each floor from basement to level 16 individually zoned with nearly 1,000 sprinklers on the scheme mainly with exposed sprinklers and pipe work to give a modern office feel.
